White text on purple background reads UOW College Teachers want a better workplace

Petition Background

Right now in UOW College teaching staff are experiencing excessive workloads, strenuous hours, and inadequate pay. The unquestionable value of teaching staff at UOW College must be recognised through greater commitments from management in the new employment agreement

All UOW College staff and supporters are encouraged to sign and share our petition to help support our collective union effort to win a better workplace.

Who are we petitioning?

UOW College Management and UOW College Board

Petition Demands

We, the undersigned are committed to providing excellence in teaching, course development and student support at UOW College. We are passionate about the success of our workplace. However, the ongoing issue of workloads exceeding TAHs in ELICOS courses and some Academic subjects and the inequity in TAHs hours between Teaching Programs along with the below inflation pay offer from College Management devalues our commitment.

Fairer workplace conditions will create a better teaching and learning environment for staff and our students.

We therefore call on the UOW College management and the UOW College Board to engage with our concerns and with NTEU Union Delegates leading our negotiating team to ensure our new employment agreement provides:

  1. TAHs allocations that fairly reflect teacher workloads in ELICOS and UOW badged subjects.
  2. A path over the next 3 years to a more equitable TAHs allocation for all College Teaching Staff
  3. A fair yearly pay rise above inflation with an enforceable CPI Protection Clause to ensure our wages don’t fall behind the rising cost of living.
  4. No diminution in our core workplace conditions, hard won by union members over many years.
  5. Improved pathways to secure work for long term Casually employed teachers at UOW College.

We support our collective union effort to win a better workplace. We stand ready to take action in support of our reasonable claims for a better workplace.
