UTS NTEU members holding banners during their strike

The Vice Chancellor at Western Sydney University George Williams has threatened up to 400 job losses to address a perceived ‘$80m deficit’.

The VC has said that he wants to hear from NTEU members about what they think of the proposed cuts, so we think we should give him exactly what he wants.  Share your feedback via the form below and we’ll hand deliver each and every response.

Members have spoken up about the lack of justification for the cuts, the impact it could have on students, research output and staff wellbeing. Some of the questions we want the VC to answer include:

  • What do you think would happen to workloads if job cuts went ahead?
  • Does the VC realise what the impact on the ground would be of 400 of our colleagues losing their jobs?
  • After years of hiring freezes and belt-tightening how much more do you think staff and students can bear?
  • Will this be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for staff that have already had to work through numerous change proposals?

WSU is home to a unique, resilient community that has worked through crisis in the past. NTEU members and the broader WSU community can find a better path forward, save jobs and protect each others’ future.

Note: Any feedback you give will not be shared with management in a way that could identify you if you so wish.

Please submit all feedback by 5pm Wednesday 9th April.
